What materials are used in Clay Mode earrings? Are they suitable for sensitive ears?

At Clay Mode Studio, we use high-quality materials in all of our earrings, including 14k and 18k gold-plated components, gold-filled materials, and surgical stainless steel. These metals are generally well-tolerated by many people with sensitive ears and are chosen for both comfort and durability.

While most customers with sensitive ears wear our earrings without any issues, sensitivities can vary from person to person. For this reason, we cannot guarantee that all materials will be completely hypoallergenic for everyone.

Please note that some non-piercing components such as jump rings and other structural hardware are typically made of brass. These pieces do not come into direct contact with the ear and are used to ensure the overall strength and longevity of each design.

How should I care for my jewelry?

Polymer Clay

  • Store in a closed bag or box, away from moisture.
  • Avoid direct contact with oils, makeup, and perfume.
  • Clean gently with a baby wipe; for tougher marks, use a small amount of makeup remover (avoid on painted or resin pieces).
  • Handle gently and avoid bending.

Brass Components

  • Brass may naturally oxidize over time.
  • Clean with lemon juice and a soft toothbrush, rinse, and dry well.
  • For deeper cleaning, polish with Brasso and a microfiber cloth.
